Rotonda West is a peaceful, planned community situated near the beautiful Gulf of Mexico in southwest Florida. It is located mid-way between Sarasota and Fort Myers. Rotonda West contains 8,000 home sites with over 5,000 homes completed with a total population of 13,000. Residents are predominantly full-time homeowners and their families, as well as tenants and those who winter in the community.
There are seven golf courses operated by Rotonda Golf and Country Club. Thirty miles of canals, lakes and ponds wind through the community and offer fishing and boating opportunities for its residents.
Many exotic and beautiful birds call Rotonda West home, as it is a designated Bird Sanctuary. Nearby recreation facilities, beaches, theaters, sporting events, and fine restaurants are available for all. Clubs, activities, and many volunteer opportunities abound for those who wish to become involved.
The Rotonda West Association, Inc. (RWA) is a not-for-profit Florida membership corporation and is operated exclusively for the promotion of the common good and general welfare of the people of the Rotonda West community. It is incorporated under the Florida Not for Profit Corporation Act as stated in the Articles of Incorporation. The RWA is also governed by Florida State Laws Chapter 720 and Chapter 617, as well as local Governing Documents.
The RWA provides an organizational framework for cohesive community efforts by and for its membership and provides for the necessary operation, administration and government of Rotonda West as a community. The RWA is responsible for community services, general maintenance, care and upkeep of the community’s infrastructure, including, buildings, facilities and other properties. The RWA also promotes and in some cases sponsors cultural, esthetic, recreational and general programs and services for the members.
The RWA Board of Directors is generally responsible for maintaining and improving the community in the best interests of its members. The Board interprets, applies, administers and enforces the governing documents affecting the community. The Board may be assisted in these efforts by the establishment of standing/statutory and advisory committees. The RWA collects appropriate assessments, charges in the form of fines, deposits and fees for services rendered. These moneys are used to finance the activities of the association.

I don’t want to vote for any of the declared candidates. Can I write in a candidate of my choice?
NO.
Why must I sign the outside of the white preaddressed envelope?
Because we have a secret ballot, the procedures adopted by the Board of Directors of the RWA are as required by Florida statute 720.306 (8) (b). This statute requires the ballot be sealed in an envelope with no identifying markings, and placed inside an envelope with the lot identified and a signature on the outside of the envelope.
Florida Statute 720.306 (8)(b) and the RWA Election Procedures section XIII A requires that each lot must individually have the signature verified as being of the designated voter.
What happens when the ballots are received by Webb Lorah and/or the RWA?
The RWA’s Independent Auditor, Webb Lorah, is the custodian of all mail-in ballot documents received prior to the annual meeting. Based on RWA Election Rules and Procedures, the Independent Auditor determines that annual meeting/election related documents have been completed and submitted properly. Your sealed blue envelope, containing a blue ballot, is opened and counted during the annual meeting, not before the meeting. Since the blue envelope and blue ballot contain no identification markings, your vote is secret. However, if rules and procedures are not followed, RWA Election Rules require that ballots be disqualified and not counted.

The RWA office gets an amazing number of calls covering an incredible number of topics. We get calls from all over the world and all over the country on a daily basis because our property owners come from 33 countries and all 50 states. We get all types of questions from people asking for directions, restaurant recommendations, referrals for plumbers, electricians, lawn maintenance, irrigation repair, roofers, carpenters, doctors, lawyers, bankers, accountants, notary publics, and Realtors to name a few.
The Association office staff will gladly handle any and all calls regarding the operation of the Association including: annual dues, fees & fines, Deed Restriction questions, enforcement & violations, parking passes for boats, motor homes, trailers of any kind, yard sale requests, signage of any kind, Residential Modification applications for improvements to the exterior of any property, Residential Modification violations, canal maintenance, canal bank mowing, vacant lot mowing, greenbelt mowing, any mowing or common area maintenance issues within Rotonda West. If you need a few copies of a document or something notarized or faxed we are happy to provide these services free of charge.
On issues other than these the office staff must call the organization responsible and then call you back with the appropriate answer. This process is very time consuming and somewhat inefficient.
We want to make sure you get all of your questions answered quickly and accurately. So we’ve put this directory together to help you direct your questions to the appropriate information sources.
Trash pick-up day is Tuesday for all trash including yard trash & recyclables. If you require a bulk pickup of items such as appliances, household items, yard trash, etc. you should call Waste Management in advance to schedule these pickups.
